Itinerary

Presentation at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) check-in, boarding procedures and flight to Rome. (Dinner and Breakfast served on board).

Arrival, entry procedures in the country, meeting with our local guide and departure to the Eternal City for a full day tour. We will visit the Basilica of Saint John Lateran and the Holy Stairs. This morning's visits will conclude at the Vatican, where you will visit St. Peter's Square and Basilica, with the tombs of the Popes, the Sistine Chapel and participation in the Papal Audience. Time for lunch (not included), afterwards, we will visit “baroque Rome”, highlighting the coliseum, (external visit), Roman forums, arch of constantine, hippodrome, prison of the apostles Peter and Paul, and time for personal shopping, from there we will continue to Piazza dei Vennesia, Trevi Fountain, Circo Maximus and the Roman Catacombs. Late afternoon at a predetermined time by the guide, transfer to the airport and departure to Cairo.

Arrival, disembarkation, procedures for entering the country, transfer to the hotel, accommodation and rest. At 9 am breakfast and departure for an exciting visit to Memphis, ancient capital of Egypt, where you can see a statue of Ramses II weighing 23 tons, in pink granite, also the archaeological site of Saqqara, with the oldest stepped pyramids in Egypt. In Giza we will visit Cheops, Chephren and Menkaure, the most famous Pyramids on the planet. We will also go to the Valley Temple and the Sphinx with the face of a man and the body of a lion. After lunch (not included), visit the Papyrus Museum, where we will watch a presentation on how to make the oldest paper we know of. Hotel Barcelo or similar.

After breakfast, we'll head to the Cairo Museum, where we'll visit the archaeological relics of Ancient Egypt, dating back 4,000 years, from the First Dynasty of the pharaohs. We will visit the riches discovered in the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, the pharaoh murdered at the age of 18, through the riches found in his tomb, if we can calculate the immensity of what was stolen from the mortuary apparatus of the great pharaohs who ruled Egypt for longer periods long. There is even a visit (optional) to the famous Mummies Room, where you can see, among others, the body of Pharaoh Ramses II, ruler of Egypt when Moses freed Israel from captivity. Visit to the house of essences and the house of Egyptian cotton. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner and rest. In the evening, dinner (optional) on a boat that sails on the Nile River, with a presentation of typical Arab music and dances. For those who prefer to stay, dinner at the hotel is included. Breakfast and departure towards the Suez Canal, dug between 1859 and 1869 for navigation and transport between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. The canal is now the biggest source of revenue in Egypt's economy. In the time of Moses, there were lakes and marshes called in the Bible as the sea of reeds. After crossing the channel through an underground tunnel, we will arrive at the Bedouin village of Mara, where Moses rested with the people and transformed the bitter water into drinkable water. There we will see lakes and wells with salt water. Crossing the desert with its inhospitable and picturesque landscapes that reproduce the path of the Hebrew people in the Exodus, we will arrive at the Sinai peninsula and at the hotel, to have dinner and rest. For those who wish, in the middle of the night there will be an ascent to the Mount of Moses, for others, rest at the hotel. Hotel Le Meridien Dahab Resort or similar.

Around midnight, departure from the hotel to climb Mount Sinai, where God revealed the Ten Commandments to Moses. The Bedouin guides will be ready and will cross with the group throughout the morning. Arriving at the top of Mount Sinai, time for prayer and meditation, photographs, etc. Descent from the mountain, arriving at the hotel around nine in the morning, we will have our breakfast and leave for a resort on the shores of the Red Sea, close to the border with Israel. Day of rest and leisure on the beaches, with other attractions that the place offers. Overnight at the same Resort, leaving at dawn to cross the border with Israel in the early hours of the morning. Breakfast and departure to cross the border with Israel, procedures for entering the country and we will be in the seaside city of Eilat. We will have time to visit the underwater observatory and from there we will continue our journey through the Arava desert. On the way, we will see the replica of the tabernacle from the time of Moses. Continuing the journey until we reach Jericho, within the territory of the Palestinian Authority, where we will discover the sycamore tree of Zacchaeus. We will visit the source of Elizeu, the ruins of the walls from the time of Joshua and a view of the Mount of Temptation which, according to tradition, is the place where Jesus was taken during the 40-day fast. Visit to the archaeological site of Qumran, where the Essenes lived. There were found the oldest known copies of all the books of the Old Testament. From there we will continue to the Dead Sea, which has the highest concentration of salt in the world and where no one sinks. Arrival at the hotel, accommodation, time to enjoy the waters of the Dead Sea, dinner and rest. Hotel David Dead Sea Resort & Spa or similar.

After breakfast, departure towards Banias, the extraordinary site of ancient Caesarea Philippi, at the foot of Mount Hermon, where Jesus predicted his own death and resurrection, the scene of Peter's important confession, recorded in Matthew 16:16. There, we will get to know the sources of the Jordan River in the territories conquered by the tribe of Dan, where Psalm 42 was also written the sermon on the mount, recorded in Matthew: 5 to 7. Visit to Tabgha, scene of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish, visit to Capernaum, where Jesus established residence during his ministry in Galilee. We will continue to visit the Fountain of Gideon, a paradisiacal place where, weather permitting, we will have time for a dip in its crystalline waters. At lunch, the famous “fish of Saint Peter”, caught in the Sea of Galilee. Then we will continue to the port of Ginosar, where we will embark to cross the Sea of Galilee in a typical wooden boat. Then we will follow the Yardenit, a place built for baptism in the Jordan River, in the waters where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Continuing along the west bank of the Jordan River, we will arrive at modern Nazareth, where Jesus spent his childhood and adolescence. Accommodation at the hotel, dinner and rest. After breakfast, saying goodbye to Nazaré, we will climb to the top of Precipice Hill, from where you can have a beautiful panoramic view of the Valley of Armageddon. Then visit Cana of Galilee, place of Jesus' first miracle, when at a wedding feast he turned water into wine. Climbing Mount Carmel we go to the place where the prophet Elijah invoked the presence of God and defeated the prophets of Baal. From the top of Carmel you have another beautiful panoramic view of the Armageddon Valley on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other. Short trip to the ruins of Caesarea Maritima, a city built by King Herod that served as the capital of the province of Judea in New Testament times. Residence of the governor Pontius Pilate and many other authorities representing the power of Rome. There lived and converted the centurion Cornelius, recorded in Acts 10:1. Paul, too, remained in prison at Caesarea Maritime before being sent to Rome. Acts 22:23. In Joppa, we will make a quick visit on foot to the port where Jonah tried to escape to Tarshish. We will also see the place where Simon the tanner is traditionally said to have lived, who hosted Peter as taught in Acts 10:5. At the end of the afternoon we will feel the excitement of arriving in Jerusalem and we will have our welcome toast and prayer at the top of Mount Scopus. Breakfast and early departure towards Mount Zion to visit the Cenacle, where the last supper of Jesus with his disciples and the baptism of the Holy Spirit of Pentecost days took place. From there we will continue to Gethsemane and the Garden of Olives, where Jesus sweated drops of blood and was arrested by the Romans. There we will be able to take some time to pray in the garden next door. Climb to the top of the Mount of Olives, from where you have a sensational panoramic view of the Old City and the Temple Mount. Time to take pictures and listen to a detailed explanation from the local guide. Lunch (not included) and visit to the Israel Museum, where we will see the famous model of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner and rest. Breakfast and early departure towards Antonia Fortress, where Jesus was imprisoned while awaiting trial. Continuing along the Via Dolorosa to the Damascus Gate, we will see the only original gate from the New Testament era. Leaving the old city, we'll head to the Garden Tomb, outside the walls, where we'll visit Golgotha, the famous skull-shaped hill where criminals were crucified in the time of Jesus. Right next to it is the tomb that probably belonged to the aristocrat Joseph of Arimathea and that was given for the burial of Jesus, according to Matthew 27:57. Time for reflections and celebration of Holy Communion. Closing meeting with delivery of pilgrimage certificates to the Holy Land, signed by the Minister of Tourism of Israel and the Mayor of Jerusalem.
